This project is a 6-year longitudinal study using non-human primates (Macaca fascicularis) as a model to precisely track the accumulation and inheritance patterns of germline and somatic mutations throughout their entire lifespan. Recognizing the limitations of human studies—such as the difficulty of long-term observation and the influence of uncontrolled environmental factors—this research utilizes primates in a controlled setting to analyze age-related changes in mutation rates and the impact of paternal age on de novo mutations using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The ultimate goal is to address the uncertainties of existing molecular clock models and establish a high-precision predictive framework for understanding genetic diversity and microevolutionary processes in both human and non-human primate populations.
