The goal is to assess the impact of the oral microbiome, which reflects the complexity of oral microorganisms, on human health and disease, and to develop technologies that can be used for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of oral and systemic diseases. To achieve this, a Korean-specific oral microbiome bank and database will be established, along with a platform and animal model to evaluate its functions. Utilizing these resources, the aim is to identify the correlations between the oral microbiome and oral health, as well as between the oral microbiome and both oral and systemic diseases, in order to develop fundamental technologies for disease control.
